The short version

Two careers, one habit of solving things.

Ziad trained as a geologist. His postgraduate research reconstructed how a major river system in the Bengal Basin rebuilt itself over centuries, using satellite imagery, terrain analysis and sediment collected by hand from 26 excavation sites.

The coding started as a side problem. Sharing a mess with other students meant somebody had to track the meals, the bazar money and who owed what at the end of the month. The spreadsheets never held up, so he learned Java, then Dart and Flutter, and built the thing properly. That app became Bachelors' Meal Manager, and Red Z Apps grew out of it.

The two disciplines turn out to reinforce each other. Fieldwork teaches you to gather messy data carefully and not trust a conclusion you cannot trace back to a measurement. That is most of what building reliable software asks of you too.

At Red Z Apps

What he actually does here.

01

Builds the apps

Every app Red Z Apps has shipped was written by him, in Java for the first release and Flutter since. Interface, logic and release management.

02

Designs the systems

Data models, authentication, Cloud Functions and the security rules that decide who can read what. The part users never see and cannot afford to have wrong.

03

Talks to clients

Scoping, requirements and the awkward questions early on, so a build does not run for months before anyone notices it solves the wrong problem.

04

Keeps it running

Support mail, bug reports and version upgrades. Bachelors' Meal Manager has been maintained continuously since 2021.

Professional background

Geoscience by day.

Red Z Apps runs alongside a working career in geology. That is not a detour from the software. It is where the domain knowledge behind our industrial work comes from.

  1. Sep 2025 to present

    Mud Logger, Geoscientist

CNPC Chuanqing Drilling Engineering Company (CCDC)

Monitors live subsurface data on active wells and keeps the geological logs that wellsite geologists and drilling engineers make decisions from. When Red Z Apps builds software for a drilling contractor, the person designing it has already worked the shift it is meant to support.

  2. Mar to May 2025

    Geospatial Data Analyst

SPARRSO, Space Research and Remote Sensing Organization

Processed satellite imagery at national scale and built the flood, drought and land cover maps behind national policy reporting. Large, messy datasets that had to be right.

  3. Sep 2023 to Feb 2025

    Graduate Research Assistant

Department of Geological Sciences, Jahangirnagar University

Field surveys, sediment sampling and geological mapping, with the laboratory analysis that went with them.

Track record

Why that matters to you.

Published research

Journal of Earth System Science

Lead author on a paper published by Springer in 2026. Getting through peer review is the same discipline a good build needs: show the evidence, or do not make the claim.

Education

Jahangirnagar University

MSc and BSc Honours in Geological Sciences. The programming was never part of the syllabus. That part was self taught, alongside the degree.

Recognition

National Research Fellow

Awarded by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of Bangladesh, in 2025.
